I live in a beautiful small town- Nekla. It is 40 kilometres from Poznań eastwards. In Nekla live 3209 thousand kind and friendly people and it has only 96.2 square kilometres.
Nekla and its areas have an interesting history. The first mention of Nekla appeared in 1405. In years 1725-1993 Nekla was a cit. But unfortunately it lost its cities law. In 2000 the people of Nekla campaigned the polish government to regain a cities law. Nowadays, it is a lovely and marvelous city:)
The town is along the national road no. 92 and its southern part is crossed by the A-2 motorway. In spite of the fact that Nekla is very small, it can be really atractive to tourists. There are many forests, for example: Natural Landscape Park and "Okrąglak" Natural Reserve. There are a number of breath-taking and wonderful monuments. The most beautiful monument is the Neoromanian church in Nekla from 1900 year. It can be admired also at night, because there are special lights, which give the church an excellent outlook. There is also The Palace and Park in Nekla and Baba Lake and Ully Lake in "Okrąglak" Natural Reserve. Everything is worth seeing.
The centre of the local cultural life is the Nekla Cultural Centre(NOK). It is a place gathering numerous associations, organisations, clubs, music bands, dancing groups and choirs. There are many cultural and entertainment events. Many of these events are organised in a picturesque setting of the palace and park in Nekla. The most interesting events include "Summer Beginning - Wreaths", "Summer End', "Dożynki", "Fair" and "May Picnic".
So, why not spend holidays in Nekla and fall in love with its landscape? Who knows - maybe it's your "place in the world"? I invite you to visit my town. I'm sure, you will like it;)
Greetings,
Aga
